my one sphere - Venus Transformation

Ausstellung 01. December 2022 - 31. January 2023

Special show

Each sphere is a new life.
With Venus Transformation and my analog and digital art, I want to bring people together and set a sign for humanity and peace.
Lukas Mayr, Artist, Bressanone, 2022

With the special show of the young South Tyrolean artist Lukas Mayr, founder of my one sphere, BURN-IN presents a unique special show with exquisite analog sculptures and digital NFTs. A premiere at BURN-IN.

The sculptor's life-sphere sculptures are characterized by a strongly emotionalizing intensity that radiates great depth and maturity despite the youth of the protagonist. Inspired by the soft, round, feminine forms of the Venus of Willendorf, Mayer's sculptures convey something very close to life, but at the same time distant, sublime and mystical. A delightful polarity that, for many viewers, evokes associations with ancient cultic rituals and sets in motion an unconscious dialogue. Cosmos and earth collide, archaic meets contemporary art. Spheres connect. Since the dawn of human thought also a cultural and religious theme.

.

The geometric shape of the sphere runs like a thread through Mayr's portfolio. The sphere as a synonym for the sphere, the space in which we move. Sacred geometry and the golden section as an almost sacred component of his work. Mayr understands the concept of the sphere as something immaterial, as something natural philosophical. In addition to the classical elements of fire, water, earth and air, the artist implements the sphere as a fifth immaterial element, as the primordial substance of all that exists, which resonates with people individually.

Each of the spheres is created by hand and is unique. Concrete and wood guarantee the greatest possible creative freedom, precious metals of gold and silver refine the sculptures and emphasize the value of the works. Mayr's works donate hope and positive energy and shine through their purist beauty, which also creates connections.

With the Golden Venus, which weighs 12 tons, Mayr created a monumental sculpture in 1.5 years. The five spheres represent fertility, humanity, overcoming the divisive and peace. Mayr sends his artworks around the globe as digital NFTs and started a tour of the analog sculpture through South Tyrol, scheduled for 8 years. Currently it is located in Klausen. The first presentation was at the 4th Biennale in Val Gardena.

His artistic hero's journey and its multiple transformations from analog to digital and back to analog (artwork - 3D scan - NFT - digital art - 3D printing and finishing) epitomize the mutability and resilience of man and nature by combining the visible and the tangible on the meta-level of art.
It is with great pleasure that BURN-IN presents 7 sculptures (materials: concrete, wood, gold, silver) and 2 NFTs in the special show Venus Transformation.

.

In addition to the four female sphere sculptures, the works New Birth I and II embody the masculine and the strength, dynamism and resilience of the opposite sex, which forms a charming contrast to the Venus sculptures.

A truly forward-looking, profound project by the young, sympathetic artist from South Tyrol, who understands how to live the digital transformation authentically and transport meaningfulness in contemporary art. BURN-IN presents Mayr for the first time in Vienna.

BURN-IN GreenART NFT Collection

The digital transformation is currently changing the entire art market. Digital art and virtual exhibitions are inspiring and finding a growing following. Cryptocurrencies and NFTs are creating a furor, especially among young target groups who are not yet art-savvy. But traditional art collectors are also exploring the emerging NFT landscape. Platforms such as OpenSea, Superrare speak for themselves especially through transparency and large volumes. But there are also risks to evaluate. These include the volatilities of artworks per se and cryptocurrencies.

Despite this, the hype around digital art, cryptocurrencies and NFTs is picking up tremendously, fueling the art market. Christie's auction of Beeple Opus (The first 5000 days of the artist Beeple) is still the talk of the town, fetching more than $69 million. Traditional cultural institutions have also jumped on the NFT bandwagon, using NFTs to generate alternative private revenue streams that enable autonomous action. The Belvedere Museum in Vienna "mined" Gustav Klimt's artwork The Kiss and generated 1,800 new NFT holders, after all.

From my point of view, new opportunities & perspectives open up not only for global players - keyword: smart contracts, provenance and resale rights. Rather, creatively active artists can use the new technology to further develop and position their art and make use of digital distribution channels. Either on their own or alternatively with external partners. BURN-IN Galerie.Agentur supports artists in this digital transformation - in strategic matters and creation (digital storytelling, animations...)

.

With the currently emerging exclusive GreenART NFT collections, BURN-IN writes another exciting chapter and presents beautiful and meaningful things on the topic of environment and nature.

With Lukas Mayr, whom we met at ARTfair Innsbruck 2022, BURN-IN stages for the first time the hybrid special show Venus Transformation at the atypical art space Gerngross in Vienna. The nearly 30,000-year-old Venus of Willendorf, discovered in 1908 in the Wachau region, was the inspiration for Mayr's artistic project, which he autonomously transferred to the digital by creating analog artworks, 3D scanning them, digitally enhancing them, mining them on opensea.io and offering them for sale. This successful premiere fills me with great pride and endless joy.
