about the artwork

war is not followed by peace
the men carry it home
then the war is hushed up
and peace can look like war

the war continues on its own
peace gives it at most a break
humanity remains in this dark place
it should already go beyond its species

burying the deep part of the brain with the hatchet part of the brain buried with the hatchet
peace cannot be won with wars we indulge
in its monotony embrace agitations and intrigues
life means to end and can never win

Poem by Kirstin Breitenfellner
we live and then we are dead
mortality weights
