Richard Fischer

Richard Fischer was born in Manila in the Philippines in 1951. He graduated from the International School and De La Salle College and has lived in Europe since 1963, where he studied economics and art in Mannheim and photography at the Academy in Munich. Fischer has been involved in numerous international film productions (Group Picture with a Lady by Heinrich Böll) and has impressed with his photographic work in studios in Essen, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Vienna. Today, the photographer lives and works in Germany and France and has run his own studio for visual concepts and photography since 1978.

Fischer is a member of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), which was founded in 1948 and is a globally active, democratic association whose main objective is the sustainable protection and conservation of nature worldwide. It networks 17,000 experts from 160 countries, advises governments, companies and interest groups and publishes the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

In 2010, the contemporary art photographer founded the non-profit organization Floral Sculptures and Endangered Flowers (FS & ES Society), which comprises one of the world's largest art collections of endangered flower species. Fischer's photographic masterpieces succeed in exquisite art forums and contribute to raising awareness of endangered flora with his contemporary floral sculptures. In addition, the association offers a wide range of artistic interventions for ultimate CSR projects for organizations that have a positive impact on corporate culture, image and awareness. Back in 2010, Richard Fischer was nominated for the third cycle of the Prix Pictet by the Geneva-based private bank Picket & Cie. The prize is aimed at a global audience of over 400 million people and focuses on the social and environmental challenges of our time, particularly in terms of sustainability.

Fischer's work was particularly well received by Francis Hodgson, who nominated him for the Prix Pictet. Hodgson is a renowned photography expert and Professor of Culture and Photography at the University of Brighton.

Fischer won the Kodak Panther Prize, the prestigious International Kodak Photo Calendar Award for best concept and photography out of more than 1,000 entries worldwide. His flower photography has also been recognized at the Merit, Red Dot Design, the if Design Awards and the German Japan Exchange Awards. Most recently, he received the International Gregor Silver Award and the International Award of Excellence.
