In the BURN-IN solo exhibition OUT OF JOINT of Upper Austrian artist Silvia SUN, the viewer is taken on a journey through a constantly changing present, marked by the turmoil of nature and the vagaries of human existence. SUN, inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet, sees the world as out of joint, as coming apart at the seams. Her artworks echo this sentiment, a reflection of the fragility and uncertainty of our times.
The works are marked by intense emotions, by a state of tension that contrasts with a deep longing for tranquillity and harmony with nature. The painting Tempest is a striking example of this: torn surfaces, cracks and scratches symbolize the fragility of life, while the bowed palms represent resilience and the hope of weathering even the most violent storms.
Another central element in SUN's art is the use of language and music. News fragments, lines of poetry, and song lyrics, especially by Nick Cave, add depth to the works and point to the multi-layered meanings and interpretations. They are not mere decorations, but contribute significantly to the message and understanding of the works.
The neon-coloured letters that appear repeatedly in some of her works are an ironic allusion to the reassuring messages often presented to society in times of crisis. SUN's works question these messages and invite the viewer to reflect on the true meaning and the intentions behind them.
Silvia SUN's OUT OF JOINT is thus much more than an artistic reflection on the state of our world, it is above all an invitation to remain alert, to question and to become aware of the complex reality in which we live. It is an invitation to look deeper, to think beyond the horizon and to engage with true meanings and contexts.
The exhibition presents more than 40 works and was curated by BURN-IN founder Sonja Dolzer.

It's all right! There is no threat/no danger! But the artist makes the letters in her paintings light up neon and sensitizes us to the fact that this supposed all-clear alone is a threat. The mixed media targeting the subject in acrylic, pencil, sharpie, neon spray and print as well as pouring technique sharpen the explosive nature of the image content and makes the danger imminent, the drama tangible.

Between Storm and Silence
Searching for my sweet Spot
In OUT OF JOINT, the viewer is confronted with the duality of fragility and resilience. SUN's works are a powerful testimony to the current global conditions in which the world finds itself. They are a reflection of the fragility of our times, but also a symbol of hope and the unshakable power of nature.
The central image, Tempest with its torn surfaces and bent palm trees that steadfastly defy the fiercest storms, forms a perfect example of this duality. It represents the fragility of life, but also the resilience and hope of surviving even the fiercest challenges.
The quote Searching for my sweet spot from Jarvis Rocker's Am I missing something? adds another dimension. It speaks of searching for a place of peace and harmony, a refuge in the mind amidst of the storm. Amidst the stormy palm images that point to the current geopolitical dangers, SUN searches for this sweet spot, a place where one can find peace and beauty despite all odds.
The exhibition is thus not only a reflection on the external turbulence of our time, but also an introspective journey exploring the deep connection between man and nature and the eternal search for a place of peace and contentment in an increasingly chaotic world.
Dare to take an extraordinary art journey and discover your very own sweet spot at this excellent BURN-IN exhibition
